Overview and core features
When comparing moviejaySX to typical low-cost or entry-level playout softwares, the difference in quality and capabilities is immediate. Unlike many competitors that rely on consumer-grade video processing, moviejaySX is built on a broadcast-grade SDK and integrates seamlessly with professional-grade playout cards such as Blackmagic Decklink, AJA, and Bluefish444. This allows support for advanced video I/O formats like SDI, HDMI, analog, and fiber optic, while others often limits you to basic HDMI or IP stream input only.
moviejaySX is a true multiformat engine supporting HD, 4K, and even 8K with built-in features like a playlist and ad scheduler, multilayer CG editor, dual streaming encoder, micro MAM, and music channel automation. In contrast, many competitors require third-party plugins or paid add-ons to achieve similar functionality—and still lack the tight hardware integration and high reliability required in professional environments.
Whether you’re running a local TV station, a web-based streaming channel, or a satellite broadcast hub, moviejaySX gives you a future-proof, professional solution at a fraction of the cost, without getting involved in limitations, lack of competent technical support, workarounds, and upgrade headaches.
From the beginning, we’ve designed our interfaces with a clear mission: deliver access to powerful, professional-grade features in the most streamlined way possible. The minimalist, catchy design does not translate into a lack of functionality—it’s intentional clarity. Such intuitive layout ensures a rapid learning curve, effortless navigation, and reliable performance, even under the pressure of live production. Essential controls are always within reach via dedicated buttons, while advanced tools like the CG editor can stay open and conveniently placed on a dual screen-setup—offering operators full oversight and control without the bulky, confusing popup menus typical of the so many badly designed GUIs on the market.
4K and 8K playback is perfectly supported on our moviejaySX Ultimate package, with even our Netcaster version delivering smooth, full HD output feeds for crystal-clear viewing. To ensure optimal results, especially when running multiple channels or encoders, just make sure to verify that your system will be able comfortably handle the required CPU and GPU performance.
You got it, moviejaySX not only supports the playback of clips with a wide range of codecs and containers, but you can also mix assorted clips within the same playlist with transparent adaptive resolution, up/down scaling, aspect ratio and frame rate adjustment. Just drag and drop your clips, and start playing with no worries.
moviejaySX offers a highly intuitive CG editor enabling you to drag-and-drop objects, moving them freely on your screen. Unleash your creativity with ease, as you add captivating elements like eye-catching text, stunning images, crawl and roll tickers, HTML5 animations, subtitles, real-time RSS feeds, dynamic XML tables, and much more.
moviejaySX is engineered to run up to 8 channels on the same workstation each with its own dedicated full-screen interface. All our packages include 1 playback channel plus the offline editing instance, while additional channels can be added for a nominal charge. Consult the tables on our online shop or get in touch, we’ll make the best to meet your requirements and budget expectaations and get a great system for a fraction of the price.
Comparing to the majority of other competitor applications in the same price range, moviejaySX features 3 preview screens for on-the-air and off-the-air outputs, and for live input. To optimize screen space, such previews are engineered on dedicated, detached screens and related VU-meters, that can be recalled anytime and freely positioned on the side of the main screen, or on a dual monitor setup.
Anytime while working on a playist you can save a shapshot or a final edit and recall it anytime later for immediate playback, or within the scheduler to set a time/day so the playlist will run automatically. Many loading modes are available, so for example you can insert a playlist with ads within the main playlist, and such insert can be scheduled as well to automate ad insertion. moviejaySX is carefully designed so any edits, or recalling, appending or inserting playlists will never break the playback flow.
moviejaySX offers a “dual-channel” mode in which you can start a second instance of the application in “editing mode” while the main instance is on the air and perform the complete playlist and schedule management from recalling saved playlist, editing, scheduling and saving back and for later use.
Yes, our smooth live edits features readapt the playlist to any last-minute edits without disrupting the stream output. You can freely add and remove clips, commands, live feeds, drag items up and down, all of this while the playlist is on the air, and enjoy your video feed running flawlessly.
Exactly, once you save a project from the CG Editor, this is available for scheduling overlays within playlists. That way, you can assign a composition made of several objects to one clip or a block of sequential clips, ensuring the overlays are fully automated withhout any further human assistance.
We do not provide 24/7 support — and for good reasons. While the idea of round-the-clock support might sound reassuring, especially in the broadcasting world, it’s important to understand how modern TV playout systems have changed — and why 24/7 support often isn’t the real solution customers hope for.
In the past, TV playout relied on expensive, monolithic automation servers — complex all-in-one systems for which buying a second unit as backup was often financially out of reach. In that context, having engineers on call 24/7 made more sense, because a single point of failure could bring the entire channel offline.
But today, playout runs on off-the-shelf PC hardware using modular, flexible software. This evolution not only reduces overall system cost but also enables simple redundancy options. Crucially, in case your hardware fails — whether it’s a motherboard, power supply, or anything else — there is no way a 24/7 phone call can magically fix a physical failure. The only real safety net is having a replacement system physically available and ready to switch on.
Instead of investing in the significant costs of 24/7 support (which involves real people being available at all hours), keeping a pre-configured backup workstation on-site it’s much more clever and effective. With our software pre-installed and ready to go, such a unit can be up and running within minutes if something goes wrong.
Of course, we remain available during standard office schedule to provide any required assistance. But for real peace of mind, nothing beats the simplicity and reliability of a backup system that’s already in your rack — not a phone call away.
Advanced playlist management
The main application screen is carefully designed so all the required informations are readily available. A Clip Timer and a clear progress bar can be switched between remain/elapsed with just one click. Plus, another side display shows total time and remaining time of the current play queue.
Not only you can set in and out markers for any clips in the playlist, but such edits will be stored as defaults. Once defined, markers will go together with the clip whenever it will be added inside any other playlist. And it’s not limited to just one in/out couple, you can even set multiple markers, letting you virtually segment a movie or clip into as many parts as you need, and schedule each segment individually.
Yes, the counters fully account for clips marked with in and out points. Once these markers are set, both elapsed and remaining counters are automatically adjusted to reflect the actual duration of the clip. Only the net playable time is considered. Likewise, in the playlist view, each clip’s start time is precisely calculated based on its effective length—excluding any trimmed portions defined by the in/out markers.
Comparing to many other applications in the same price range, moviejaySX offers a very comprehensive playlist view and specifically, apart from the usual clip duration, an individual start time is calculated and shown for each clip, based on the time you can set for playlist start on the 1st element. For example, if the playlist has been schedulded for starting at 16:00:00 and item 1) and 2) are 30 minutes each, item 3) individual start time for item 3) will be calculated for 17:00:00 – and of course all times are recalculated on the fly, so for example if you manually skip from item 1) to 2) at 15 minutes within it, start time for item 3) will be updated to 16:45:00
Skipping to any other clip in the playlist is as simple as double-click on the desired position, playback will jump immediately with no buffering issues. Should you wish to shorten duration for the current clip, it will be equally simple as poppin up the preview screen and editing the end marker. Remain counter will be immediately recalculated, and you can leave being sure that playback will jump to the next item in the queue at the exact marker you just set.
Of course. moviejaySX offers a well-designed preview window that can be recalled anytime. Not only you can preview the clips and scroll the playback position, but also recall, edit, and save the in and out markers, set playback volume, preferred audio track (multilanguage clips), and much more.
The L-shape, also known as picture squeezeback, is a powerful feature that lets you instantly shrink the video playback into a corner while unlocking the rest of the screen for eye-catching CG overlays—perfect for live news tickers, stock updates, or engaging ads. With moviejaySX, it all happens effortlessly on the same playout channel with a single click—no need for complex loops or additional channels like other software requires. It’s seamless, efficient, and built for real-time broadcasting excellence.
Integration and workflow
When a live TV news broadcast runs flawlessly, life inside the control room can feel almost effortless like hitting play at the right moment, let moviejaySX start the news report and automatically switch the video router, switch the mixer back to the live camera after the clip while moviejaySX automatically cues up the next video on still frame, waiting for the start command—and repeat. When such start commands could be run automatically via external triggered —whether through the Tally Interface or directly via LAN with a Blackmagic ATEM mixer—routine operations really become relaxed and with miminal human intervention. Automation empowers your team to focus on what really matters, as it should be.
moviejaySX come with industry-standard NDI input and output, thus integrating the playlist into any NDI-enabled applications like OBS is straightforward, ensuring compatibility with virtually any existing setup.
One other feature that sets moviejaySX apart from similarly priced competitors is its unmatched flexibility. Other than providing the basic drag-and-drop playlist editing, but still with the ability of saving properties like in/out markers for later recall, moviejaySX goes one step further—with its μMAM (micro MAM), a real database where to index and organize your clips with all their related metadata attached. This translates into faster searches, better content control, and a streamlined workflow that saves you time and boosts productivity.
According to our users’ reports, moviejaySX also supports most Amazon EC2 instances running Windows Server 2019 with NVIDIA GPU support.
We plan to provide a quick tutorial shortly, however getting started is as simple as picking a new EC2 instance, apply some basic configurations, and install moviejaySX as you normally would. Thanks to NDI input/output and integrated streaming capabilities, you will be easily able to setup a cloud based infrastructure for NDI transport or streaming.
Music Channel Automation
The Music Pack supercharges the moviejaySX playout with a powerful suite of integrated features, carefully built to automate your music channel workflow. From smart random clip selection to real-time overlays announcing current artist/title, to coming next, and flexible customization and scheduling options—making music channel management not just easier, but smarter.
Exactly, moviejaySX + Music Pack is among the few, all-integrated solutions available on the market for running a fully automated music channel with zero hassle. Whether you prefer quick customization or sticking with the built-in defaults, getting started is as simple as creating genre-specific folders, dropping in your clips, and watching the music rotate into your favourite sequence of genres and jingles/stations IDs. Stunning on-screen graphics—such as title/artist info, coming next track, and more-will be automatically overlaid in real-time over the randomized sequence. Best of all, it’s all hands-free, with no need to pre-edit or save your clips just to add those eye-catching visuals.
A proper music channel automation can’t lack a smart random clip selection, with the main reasons behind. because it gives the freedon from the grind of daily playlist creation, while keeping your content fresh, automatically rotating videos from your library every single day. Combined with an effective shuffle features, it ensures each clip gets its time in the spotlight before being selected again. You can queue multiple selection rules—each targeting different folders or categories within the same playlist—resulting in a fresh, dynamic output every cycle, all from a one-time script with zero ongoing editing. Simply organize your clips into genre or style-based folders, or for even sharper control, use the μMAM database to tag clips with custom categories and deliver precise, tailored selections every time.
The moviejaySX Music Pack is engineered as a stand-alone automation layer over the CG engine. So, unlike many other solutions on the market, you won’t need to scratch your head to build complex scripts. Just open the configuration window to edit your in/out timing, select from a range of pre-designed banners, and go live in minutes while leaving room for improvments at a later time. And of course, the CG is still completely available for dragging and dropping objects live, or recall scheduled projects into the playlists.
The Music Pack offers powerful control on your channel look and feel. With flexible customization and scheduling features, you can easily tailor artist/title overlays to perfectly match your brand’s identity. Match different and unique graphics with their in/out timing, and save unlimited presets for later use. Whether your goal is to enhance your standard rotation or set a specially made graphics set for a themed playlist like “Best of the ’80s,” you’ll always achieve catching engagement with your viewers.
Of course yes! With moviejaySX, you have the option to display the “Coming Next” clip while the current one is playing. The application intelligently scans the playlist in real-time, skipping over non-musical elements like jingles or ads, looking for the next valid track. With the feature enabled, viewers get a sneak peek at the upcoming video—boosting anticipation, enhancing their overall experience, and keeping them engaged longer. It’s so simple to maintain attention and reduce channel-switching. Best of all, you’re in full control: turn the feature on and off selectively for specific playlists just by assigning appropriately designed banner presets.
Imagine having the power to schedule settings for your animated banners with unmatched precision. In fact, the moviejaySX Music Pack allows you to set up multiple banners and timelines effortlessly. For instance, you can configure one banner to display the current playing track at the beginning of a clip and another to showcase the upcoming track towards the end. Each banner can be individually scheduled using multiple time markers, giving you complete flexibility.
You can overlay a banner at 10 seconds from the start, at one-third of the clip, in the middle, and 20 seconds before the end—all with simple commands. Of course that’s overkill, but renders the idea of the flexibility available within our implementation.
But that’s not all. You can save these settings as individual presets and recall them for any playlist. Tailor your banners and timelines to fit specific playlists or even individual clips within a playlist. Whether you’re running a “forever gold of ’80s” playlist or highlighting a peculiar “blast from the past” within a main playlist, our moviejaySX Music Pack makes it seamless and intuitive, enhancing your channel uniqueness.
Absolutely! The title and artist overlays are just one of countless CG layers available to achieve the total freedom to maximize your on-screen content. Whether you want to display logos, tickers, live RSS feeds, or even recll complex projects into the live playlist, the moviejaySX architecture empowers you to unleash the full creative power of CG—without limits.
